As of 2023, there were 131,430,000 U.S. households. The Top 1% (based on share of wealth, representing 1,318,364 households) own 30.3% of all assets (or $45.57 Trillion). Looked at another way, according to the Federal Reserve (based on income percentile), the Top 1% of income earners own more than $35.6 Trillion across all asset classes. Depending on the definition of the Top 1%, whether based on household income versus household wealth, there's roughly a $10 Trillion difference. The Top 0.1% have increased their wealth the most.
